Privacy Policy

MScopes collects nothing and sends nothing. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting to us, no account, and no network connection made by the app on its own behalf. Nothing it renders or plays is transmitted anywhere.

System audio

MScopes reads the audio your Mac is already playing through a CoreAudio process tap, so it can react to it. macOS asks for this permission once, on first launch. The audio is analyzed in memory to drive the visuals and is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.

Preset libraries

Pointing MScopes at a folder of .avs presets grants it read access to that folder only, so it can list and play what's inside. It never looks outside the folder you chose, and it never uploads anything it finds there.

What is written, and where

The app writes a few preference and settings files under your own user profile and reads them back on launch — window layout, the last preset library folder you chose, macro knob values. They never leave your machine.

Apple Music plugin

Installing the visualizer plugin from the app's Install button copies it into ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/, where Music loads it like any other visualizer. It runs inside Music's own visualizer sandbox and follows the same policy: nothing it renders is recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.

Distribution

MScopes is distributed as a free direct download — a Developer ID-signed, Apple-notarized disk image, not through the Mac App Store — and separately as open source on GitHub (BSD 3-Clause). There is no purchase, license check, or account of any kind.

Children

MScopes is a music visualizer. It is not directed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone.
